BERLIN (AFP) –
Poland midfielder Jakub Blaszczykowski will miss Borussia Dortmund’s Champions League quarter-final, first leg at Malaga on Wednesday with a persistent groin injury.
“The decision has been made, I will not play. It’s too risky. Now let’s get behind the boys,” he wrote on his Facebook page having flown to Spain with his team.
Right-wing ‘Kuba’ has been a key part of Dortmund’s midfield this season and the 27-year-old scored in Borussia’s 3-0 win over Shakhtar Donetsk in the last 16 tie.
Dortmund coach Jurgen Klopp is already without injured centre-back Mats Hummels, while left-back Marcel Schmelzer is expected to play with a mask after breaking his nose in the Bundesliga last weekend.
