German Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund will miss the services of their new signing Henrikh Mkhitaryan for up to four weeks, with the Armenian suffering a tear of his syndesmosis ligament of his right ankle.
Henrikh Mkhitaryan has been impressive in his first few appearances for the yellow-blacks, who bought the Armenian for a club record transfer fee of €27.5 million.
Mkhitaryan will be sidelined for up to four weeks, according to BVB team doctor Markus Braun, and might only be available for selection for Borussia Dortmund’s Bundesliga home opener against Eintracht Braunschweig on August 18.
The former Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder is set to miss the German Supercup match against Bayern Munich on July 27, the club’s first round German Cup clash a week later and its Bundesliga season opener against FC Augsburg on August 10.
In Dortmund, the fans have hopes that Mkhitaryan can replace Mario Götze, who left for Bayern Munich.
