Drogba hopes to achieve more success in his second spell at Chelsea

Chelsea striker Didier Drogba thanked the home fans for the warm welcome he was bestowed upon with on his return to Stamford Bridge as a Blues player after two years. Chelsea played their final pre-season friendly against Real Sociedad on Tuesday and before the game, the players were introduced to the fans. Expectedly, the returning legend received the warmest applause of the night.

He thanked the fans on twitter and then shared a picture of the team on instagram.

Drogba didn’t take to the field against Socieded because of the injury that he suffered in the previous game against Ferencvaros, and there were reports that he could even miss four to six months of playing time. If that does happen, it will cause problems for Chelsea as an out of form Fernando Torres is the only other option left as a backup to new signing Diego Costa since Lukaku has already been sold to Everton.

But the club remains hopeful that he will be back soon in action. “I twisted my ankle and I couldn't continue. In the next few days we are going to do some treatment and I hope everything will be better,” Drogba told the club’s official website after the game. Chelsea open their campaign in the league against Burnley in an away fixture on Monday.
