Dundee United to face Dynamo Moscow in Europa League

Moscow - A tough trip to Russia awaits Scotland’s Dundee United after they were drawn against Dynamo Moscow in the third qualifying round of the Europa League Friday.

The first leg will be played in Dundee at Tannadice Park Aug 2, with the return leg in Moscow a week later. The same dates apply for all the matches.

Liverpool avoided potentially tricky opponents from Ukraine and Croatia as they were drawn against either Macedonia’s FC Renova or Belarusian team FC Gomel, with the first leg at home.

As for Italy’s Inter Milan, they face either Croatian team Hajduk Split or Latvia’s Skonto Riga and will play the first game at home.

Big-spending Russian side Anzhi Makhachkala lead Hungary’s FC Honved 1-0 after the first leg of their second qualifying round tie.

If the Caucasus-based club qualify, their reward is a match against either Dutch team Vitesse Arnhem or Bulgaria’s Lokomotiv Plovdiv, among the toughest teams Anzhi could have faced in an otherwise weak section of the draw.

Scottish team St. Johnstone are making their first appearance in European competition since 1999, and lost 0-2 to Turkey’s Esiksehirspor Thursday.
