East Bengal officials are very keen on extending the contract of their best overseas player Penn Orji. Penn Orji’s current contract ends next May. East Bengal are hoping to extend it for two more years. They have even offered a 30% increase in wages from his current one. Though Penn did not give his assurance, the UB management group is quite hopeful about his signing. If East Bengal can extend the contract with Penn, then it should not be difficult for them to renew one for Nigerian Uga Okpara either.
Meanwhile, East Bengal have extended the contract of midfielder Mehtab Hussain. There are also some other players including Naoba Singh, Vashum, Gurwinder Singh, Subodh Kumar and Sanju Pradhan, whose contracts will be ending next year. The club’s officials are hoping to solve these contract issues as soon as possible. Rumours are also spreading that East Bengal might sign Pune FC forward Jeje Lalpekhlua. They might release Baljit Sahni if they can agree on a deal for Jeje.
