East Bengal midfielder Jagpreet Singh, who was arrested on October 30 after being accused of raping a minor, was released on bail on Saturday after remaining in judicial custody for more than two months.
Back in Novemeber, Jagpreet’s bail plea bail was rejected by the Barrackpore Criminal Court but the 24-year-old now has been finally released.
The other two accused players – Prayag United midfielder Baldeep Singh and Jaspal Parmar, who has been released by East Bengal, are still absconding.
All three are former JCT players and have represented India at senior international level with Jagpreet having also played for Churchill Brothers.
