East Timor and Thailand clash at the Hàng Đẫy Stadium in neutral Vietnam on Sunday for their opening game of the 2024 ASEAN Championship. The sides have been drawn in Group A alongside Malaysia, Singapore and Cambodia, in what seems like a challenging pool.
Ranked 196th in the world, the Crocodiles reached this tournament after seeing off Brunei 1-0 on aggregate in the qualifiers back in October.
Paulo Freitas scored the only goal of their first leg in the 47th minute to earn them a 1-0 victory before the sides played out a 0-0 draw in the return.
They are now set to make just their fourth appearance in the tournament and will be aiming to create history by progressing through the group stages for the first time.

Meanwhile, Thailand come into the fixture unbeaten in their last seven official games, winning four times. However, their most recent two outings have ended in a pair of stalemates: 0-0 vs Lebanon and 1-1 vs Laos, two friendlies in November.
