Belgian winger Eden Hazard has been awarded as Chelsea’s Player of the Year for the season 2013-14. Hazard was given the award by Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho.
The winger has been exceptional this season for the Blues, he’s scored 17 goals for them and has a few great individual performances.
Eden Hazard said, “I just want to say thank you,’ said the Belgian. ‘The three nominees all deserved it but it’s me! We know it’s a collective sport but individually trophies are sometimes good, so I’ll take this one home and enjoy it with my family.
‘When I play I try to give my best on the pitch. I like the applause and when the fans come they want to see a spectacle.”
Spanish full back Cesar Azpilicueta scooped the Players’ Player of the Year award, beating John Terry and Gary Cahill . Azpilicueta has been exceptional this season for the London club. He’s taken over the place of Ashley Cole and established himself well as Chelsea’s primary Left Back.
Paulo Ferreira also picked up the Special Recognition award. He played for Chelsea between 2004 and 2013, winning three Premier League medals, a Champions League and the Europa League, apart from winning the FA Cup three times and the League Cup twice.
“I feel so humbled,” said Ferreira. “I can’t believe I have won this award. I spent nine great years at this club and I feel really happy.
“For me it was like a second home here, it was a big family. That’s why I am still living in London and I hope to be here for a long time.”
