Eden Hazard's father blasts Chelsea for forcing the Belgian to play with an injury

Eden Hazard has been forced to play for Chelsea despite being injured, according to his father. Thierry Hazard, Eden Hazard’s father, claimed that the reason for Hazard’s downturn in fortunes this season is because of a hip injury, while also clarifying his son’s complimentary comments about Paris St. Germain, which led to him being linked with the club.

Speaking to Belgian newspaper Le Soir, Hazard Sr. defended his son’s poor form this season, saying “Eden’s lack of form is due to an injury, an inflammation in the hip, that he’s been carrying now for three or four months. It’s not a bad injury, but when the pain appears, it feels like a stabbing. It feels like a knife is stabbed in it.”

Hazard suffered the injury after Jamie Vardy kicked out at him in Leicester’s 1-1 draw in Jose Mourinho’s final game in charge. Thierry Hazard revealed that Chelsea have forced Hazard to play through pain, saying “He was feeling the pain early in the game [against Leicester] and that’s why he has asked for a substitution.”

“Instead of giving Eden a time to overcome the injury and have a proper rest, they push him to play because they have some important games. So he has no choice. Which player hasn’t had highs of lows in his career? It’s the first time in his professional career that he’s confronted with a difficult period. He’s not machine, as we know.”

Hazard will stay at Chelsea, no move to PSG

Chelsea were knocked out of the Champions League by Paris St. Germain on Tuesday night, with Hazard coming off in the 77th minute to a smattering of boos after the Belgian had angered the Stamford Bridge crowd by swapping shirts with PSG’s Angel di Maria at half-time.

Before the game, Hazard had hinted at a PSG move, saying “It's difficult to say no to PSG, like all the teams who are capable of winning the Champions League. PSG are part of that category now.” However, his father clarified his son’s comments, saying “Eden has never said he wanted to play for PSG.”

“He’s just confirmed that PSG have become a big club and that every player would like to play for clubs of that level. Eden has a contract until 2020. It’s out of question that he’ll leave the club at the moment.” However, given that Hazard has yet to score in the Premier League this season, perhaps Chelsea wouldn’t mind getting rid of the Belgian.
