Thierry Hazard, father to Chelsea’s star man Eden, has insisted that his son is focused on this summers World Cup and not on any transfer speculation which is constantly surrounding him.
The Belgian has had a memorable season for Chelsea and was the Blues’ main man in what was a rather disappointing return for Jose Mourinho in west London.
However, his performances have prompted speculation that French giants Paris Saint-Germain are preparing a £60 million bid for the Chelsea star and Belgium international and his future is now under intense scrutiny. PSG’s owners have met Hazard’s representatives and are discussing ways they can lure the winger to the capital of France, however, Jose Mourinho is refusing to part with his star player.
Hazard was awarded the number ten shirt this week at Chelsea, which provided a clear outline of where he would be plying his trade next season. The prestigious shirt number was vacant following Juan Mata’s departure in January to Manchester United and Chelsea highlighted Hazard’s importance by awarding the former Lille man the shirt.
Hazard’s father and agent, Thierry, says his son is focused on this upcoming World Cup and nothing else.
Thierry Hazard told reporters: “I read transfer news on Eden every day, but at this moment nothing has happened.
“Eden had asked me one thing, that he can focus on the World Cup.
“There will be no transfer news during the World Cup.”
