Cairo, July 25 (IANS) English Premier League side Stoke City announced on Monday that Egyptian midfielder Ramadan Sobhi has signed for the football club from Egyptian side Al-Ahly.
Stoke said on its official website that it has "agreed a fee that could rise to 6 million pounds ($7.8 million) sterling for the 19-year-old, who has been capped six times by his country and is widely regarded as the most exciting prospect in African football."
The Potters said that Sobhi, who led Cairo giants Al-Ahly to win the Egyptian Premier League in 2014 and 2016, is expected to "receive his UK visa over the next 48 hours."
Stoke's chief executive Tony Scholes said "We are absolutely delighted to have signed a player of Ramadan's undoubted quality and potential."
Sobhi, who played first for the Al-Ahly youth team, joined the first team when he was only 17 years of age, reports Efe.
The Egyptian international helped Al-Ahly win a string of domestic honours, including the 2015/16 Egyptian League title under the guidance of former Tottenham and Fulham manager Martin Jol.
