Real Madrid came out as 4-0 winners in a tricky away trip against Eibar with Cristiano Ronaldo scoring a brace on an eventful night that saw him set a new record.
This comprehensive victory gave Carlo Ancelotti and his team their 14th consecutive win which keeps them at the top of the La Liga table. The Capital club now have scored 46 goals in their last 12 games while this was a 36th Liga victory for Carlo Ancelotti in his 50th game in charge.
James opened the scoring for the visitors after Ronaldo just managed to keep the ball in play and crossed it over the keeper which was nodded home by the Colombian. Eibar were unfortunate as Benzema, who flicked Ronaldo’s cross, wasn’t ruled offside by the linesman.
Ronaldo scored his 19th goal of the season with a first time shot just before half-time. The lead was extended in the second half by Benzema who scored his 6th league goal of the season under some controversial circumstances again. It seemed the ball had crossed the by line but the linesman gave the decision in favour of James who provided the pass to set up the Frenchman.
Madrid rounded off an emphatic win in the dying minutes with Ronaldo converting from the penalty spot, extending his feat to 20 goals in 11 games for the season. The Portuguese forward became the first player to score against every team he has played against in Spain's top flight.
