El Clasico 2013: Gareth Bale and Raphael Varane could start for Real Madrid

Gareth Bale could start for Real Madrid

Real Madrid’s manager Carlo Ancelotti gave his press conference for Saturday’s match against Barcelona and he indicated that Gareth Bale and Raphael have a good chance of starting tomorrow.

With regards to Bale, Ancelotti said he wasn’t completely sure yet and would use Friday’s training sessions to take a decision on whether he would be fit enough to start or even make it to the bench.

Varane has a better chance of starting according to Ancelotti, after the French defender was rested for the mid week game against Juventus.

He also did not give any indication on whether Karim Benzema would start as he chose to highlight Morata’s fitness, prompting rumours that he would start over Benzema.

Even Xabi Alonso‘s place wasn’t for sure. He said, “For us [Xabi is] very important and above all, for the idea of our way of playing. It’s true that after a difficult time, Illarramendi has played well, but he’s young and doesn’t have the same experience. I really liked Illarra against Málaga and Juventus. In the last few games the three in the middle have done well, giving balance to the team. They’re doing a good job.”
