Lets have a quick look at all the clasicos this season.
El Clasico no.1 - (Spanish Super Cup, first leg). Real Madrid 2-2 Barcelona
The first leg of the Spanish Super Cup was played at Real Madrid’s home, Santiago Bernabeu . It was a thrilling match in which the final score was Real Madrid 2-2 Barcelona. Real were on the attack from the beginning and were passing the ball better than Barcelona. Madrid created a lot of chances from the start and deservedly opened the scoring through Ozil. But Barcelona came back into the game with the help of strikes from David Villa and Lionel Messi before the end of the first half. The lead did not last for long as Real levelled the scoreline through Xabi Alonso’s goal, ensuring that there was all to play for in the second leg.
El Clasico no.2 - (Spanish Super Cup, second leg). Barcelona 3-2 Real Madrid
In the second leg of the Spanish Super Cup, Real Madrid traveled to the Nou Camp – Barcelona’s home ground. The match was intense and both teams were not willing to give up. Messi had a starring role in the game as he played a part in all 3 goals scored by Barcelona. He created the chance for Iniesta and scored the other 2 goals. The game ended Barcelona 3-2 Real Madrid, with Ronaldo and Benzema scoring the goals for Madrid. The win for Barcelona confirmed that they would lift the Super Cup trophy, but the main talking point was the brawl in injury time after Marcello’s dangerous tackle on Fabregas which saw red cards given to Ozil and Villa.
El Clasico no.3 - (La Liga). Real Madrid 1-3 Barcelona
This was the first league match between the fierce rivals. Barcelona traveled to Santiago Bernabeu for the game. The match ended with the scoreline Real Madrid 1-3 Barcelona. Even though Madrid had the best possible start when Benzema scored the first goal in 22 seconds, which incidentally was the fastest goal in El Clasico history, Barcelona came from behind to win the game comfortably with goals from Sanchez, Xavi and Fabregas.
El Clasico no.4 - (Copa Del Rey, first leg). Real Madrid 1-2 Barcelona
The teams met again in the quarterfinals of the Copa Del Rey. The match took place at the Santiago Bernabeu. Even though Real took the lead through a Cristiano Ronaldo goal, they failed to maintain the upper hand yet again. Barcelona levelled and then took the lead with goals from the defenders Puyol and Abidal. Even though Madrid contained the Barcelona attack to a good extent, they lacked creativity in their own attacks and did not even seem to put up a fight.
El Clasico no.5 - (Copa Del Rey, second leg). Barcelona 2-2 Real Madrid
Both the teams again met in the Nou Camp for the second leg. Madrid put up a much better fight compared with the first leg. There were a lot of chances created and the scoreline reflected the same. Pedro and Dani Alves scored for Barcelona while Cristiano Ronaldo and Benzema scored for Real Madrid.
