What more can we comment on that particular sensational transfer that took place on the deadline day? What can we say about the performance about this 50mil man after 4 months? What do Chelsea fans expect from this huge transfer? What can we actually say about Fernando Torres? Let’s hear what I have to say.
We all were expecting a huge change to be done at Chelsea. A new look to enhance the confidence of the team. We were expecting Drogba and Torres to combine and make a powerful combination and as Steve Bruce said a ‘mouth-watering’ game play. We were hoping with that sensational striker in our hands, we would keep the EPL trophy for another year at the Bridge.
But what really happened? None of our expectations came to surface. Fans were disappointed and so was the club and Torres himself. Yesterday Torres was dropped to bench to let Anelka, Drogba and Malouda play. Nothing came and at the 60th minute, Torres was substituted in. He tried to score and he did have chances but like all the effort he put on since the last 4 months, he was denied yet again. The mid-week game against Manchester United is coming up and Ancelotti has already gave hints to drop ‘the kid’ to the bench yet again. Either a full game or as a substitute, will Torres really score against the Red Devils? We will see.
As we gave hope for Torres to settle in, we all tell ourselves that he needs time every week when he fails to score but we are getting tired of that, aren’t we? Well, I say he needs more time. It’s not easy to go and settle in a club on a transfer deadline day and play with players that were once your opponents. It’s not easy to change your position in a different formation set by different clubs and it’s certainly not easy to play your first game at your new club especially if the opponents were your former employers whom you left days ago. I certainly blame Carlo Ancelotti on this one. He should never tried to play Torres against Liverpool on his first game because it seems to me that it was some kind of a trauma for El Nino. Since that game, his movements were different and to be more precise, he’s pace is got slower.
Fans who have planted ideas in their minds that Torres is a flop like the former Chelsea man Andriy Shevchenko who WAS a flop ought to think back for a while for what Fernando Torres was built for. They ought to see what Torres has done at Liverpool in the past and what he is capable of. Here is a fan made video for fans to recap and listen to the music as well:
(NOTE: THE MUSIC DOES SAY “IT JUST TAKE SOMETIME”)
Fernando Torres MAY be end up being a flop like Andriy Shevchenko, but until time shows us that, there is no harm done to give the man some “hope”. Have faith in Fernando Torres! He may have big burdens of responsibility he has to carry given by Roman Abromovich as the latter spat out 50mil for him, but he is still a good player. For what I have seen is that Torres didn’t arrive at Stamford Bridge to learn how to kick a ball. He has shown us good movements this past few months and he only needs a goal to complete his momentum. “Hope” and “Faith” must be given to Torres and God willing, he will score soon and be another Chelsea legend.
