Emmanuel Adebayor has claimed that Arsenal do not have the bottle to handle the pressure at the top of the Premier League and will ultimately fall short in their bid to win the league title for the first time in a decade.
Adebayor has impressed since being brought back into Tottenham Hotspur side by Tim Sherwood, and Spurs will have the opportunity to put a dent into the Gunners’ title hopes when they host their local rivals at White Hart Lane on Sunday.
Arsenal will be hoping to close the gap on league leaders Chelsea after the Blues fell to surprise defeat away to Aston Villa on Saturday, but Adebayor believes that the pressure will get to the Gunners and that they will fail to claim the title in the end.
Adebayor told reporters, “Arsenal are a good team when they have the ball. When they don’t, they are not that good.
“When you put them under pressure, they can’t handle it.
“They don’t have a lot of physical presence. Apart from Flamini, I don’t see anyone that puts themselves into a proper battle.
“Rosicky is not that type of player, Cazorla is not the type of player who defends. Arteta is trying to do a job, but that’s not his job.
“They don’t have anybody who can say, “If I have to kick, I will kick. If we have to fight, I will put myself at the front of it.” That’s how we have to play. Push them and force them to make errors.”
Emmanuel Adebayor has scored eight goals in the 13 matches he has played since returning to the Spurs side, converting 42.1% of his shots on goal.
