England National team headed into the Euro 2021 as a firm favorite to win the tournament. The England side had some great talents in their team all of whom have proved to be great players for their respective clubs. The Three lions was managed by Gareth Southgate who was a former England international. Southgate played for England from 1995 to 2004 managing to make 57 appearances for his national team.
England started off their Euro Campaign with a victory over 2018 World Cup runners up Croatia. The Three Lions qualified for the round of 16 by topping their group. In the round of 16 tie, England faced 2014 World Cup winners Germany. The Three Lions won the tie with a comfortable 2-0 score line. In the Quarter finals, England defeated Ukraine 4-0. Southgate's men then faced tournament's dark horse, Denmark in the Semi Finals.
An own goal from Kjaer and a goal from England captain Harry Kane was enough for the Three Lions to defeat Denmark 2-1 in the semis. The Finals of the Euro 2021 was held in Wembley as England faced Italy. The match went into penalties as both sides failed to break the 1-1 deadlock. In the penalty shootouts, It was the Italians who had calmer heads as they won the shootout 3-2. It was a huge heartbreak for the host as England fans expected their side to bring the Euro 2021 home.
