Southgate's men then faced tournament's dark horse, Denmark in the Semi Finals.
An own goal from Kjaer and a goal from England captain Harry Kane was enough for the Three Lions to defeat Denmark 2-1 in the semis. The Finals of the Euro 2021 was held in Wembley as England faced Italy. The match went into penalties as both sides failed to break the 1-1 deadlock. In the penalty shootouts, It was the Italians who had calmer heads as they won the shootout 3-2. It was a huge heartbreak for the host as England fans expected their side to bring the Euro 2021 home.
