Earlier this year, England, after an impressive performance, had registered 2-1 victory against Brazil at Wembley. What made it more exciting was the fact that it was England’s first victory against Brazil in 23 years. Now, taking into account the friendlies that are to take place at the Maracana, Roy Hodgson’s side might just have a chance to make it two consecutive victories in a span of four months.

Chelsea defender Gary Cahill is determined to prove that their first victory was anything but a fluke. He hopes to do so by crushing the Brazilian team the second time around.

“It is one to look forward to,” defender Cahill said. “We have got a big flight now and then a couple of days training. We know the task ahead is going to be hard. They are playing at home so it is going to be tough for us.”

If the England are expecting a victory in Rio de Janeiro, then they will definitely have do a better job than what they did against Republic of Ireland on Wednesday. The team, which ranks seventh on a global scale, was made to look on par with the team who ranks thirty two levels below them.

“It was a tough workout,” the Chelsea defender said. “I thought they made it hard for us, which you would expect. I think there are positives we can take from it.”
