New England manager, Sam Allardyce has announced his squad for the World Cup qualifier against Slovakia. Many changes were expected in Big Sam's first squad selection but the former Sunderland manager did not have to change many of the faces that went to Euros 2016.
The squad will meet up at St. George's Park tomorrow with an intention of getting off to a winning start, with the road to Russia 2018 begins with the game against Slovakia on 4th of September.
Though Guardiola hasn't played Joe Hart this season, Allardyce has entrusted the 29-year-old by pikcing him in his squad. Fraser Forster and Tom Heaton make up the other custodians.
In defence, there are no surprises as the likes of Gary Cahill, Phil Jagielka, Chris Smalling and John Stones have been given the nod. Danny Rose and Luke Shaw will fight for the left back spot whereas Kyle Walker and Nathaniel Clyne are the two options at right-back.
In midfield, Danny Drinkwater has been called up once again with Theo Walcott also getting a re-call. The Leicester man will be up against Eric Dier and Jordan Henderson for a place in central midfield.
Dele Alli, Adam Lallana and Wayne Rooney are the three lions' attacking midfielders added with the pace of Raheem Sterling, Theo Walcott and the squad's latest entry, Michail Antonio. The winger has been one of West ham’s best players in the last few game weeks getting on the scoresheet against Man City today.
Harry Kane, Jamie Vardy and Daniel Sturridge are the three strikers that Sam Allardyce has chosen for a trip to Slovakia in the coming days. Jermaine Defoe was rumoured to be in contention after a brilliant start to the season along with one of former Allardyce's player, Mark Noble. Both were overlooked as Michail Antonio is the only uncapped player in the squad selected by Big Sam.
