English U-21 lads proved out to be the heroes in the International U-21 friendly vs Scotland U-21 side as they thrashed the Scots 6-0.
The English side which had failed to claim a point at the European Under-21 Championship in Israel earlier this summer quite easily razed away a weak Scottish side.
With potential new coach Michael Appleton watching from the stands, senior coach Roy Hodgson took charge for the international friendly and was gifted a 6-0 rout of Scotland by the young English team.
Liverpool defender Andre Wisdom skippered the side while fellow defender John Stones was the only new cap in the playing XI. The match at Sheffield United’s Bramall Lane ground witnessed a heavy rush of nearly 27,000 people.
Nathan Redmond, the new summer transfer pick of Norwich City club opened the scoring with a powerful finish in the third minute. The English side’s goal scoring momentum kept on going till 61 minutes of the game. Four goals were scored in an interval of 11 minutes in the second half by the English side.
Redmond, Sterling, Barkley, Wickham, Shelvey and Carroll all netted goals for an unstoppable English side. There were plenty of other attempts to boost the scoreline, with Sterling and substitutes Sammy Ameobi and Harry Kane unsuccessful to convert. England completely dominated the game over an error prone Scottish side.
England Under-21 side will play their first 2015 European U21 Championship Group 1 qualifier when they host Moldova at Reading’s Madejski Stadium on September 5.
