England and Slovakia lock horns at the Arena AufSchalke in Gelsenkirchen on Sunday for their round of 16 clash at UEFA Euro 2024.
Despite winning Group C, the Three Lions didn't live up to their title credentials. A slender 1-0 win over Serbia on the opening day was followed by a pair of draws to Denmark and Slovenia.
Gareth Southgate's squad is packed to the rafters with top talent, but none have truly lit up the showpiece so far. In fact, the goalless stalemate with Slovenia in their final group game began a memefest on social media for their boring and sluggish style of play.
Meanwhile, Slovakia beat Belgium 1-0 in their first match in what was the first big upset of the tournament, but the Falcons weren't able to build on it. Ukraine punctured their momentum by inflicting a 2-1 loss on matchday two before Francesco Calzona's side were held to a 1-1 draw by Romania.
England vs Slovakia Head-to-Head Stats
There have been six clashes between the two sides before, with England winning five and drawing once. That stalemate, interestingly, came in the European Championship as the sides shared the spoils in a goalless draw in the group stage of the 2016 edition.
England and Slovakia's last face-off was in the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, where the Three Lions picked up a 1-0 win away from home in September 2016 before a 2-1 win in September 2017.
