Rafa Benitez's men put up some battle in the beginning as the hosts found it difficult to break down the visitors. The Magpies were defending well but it was none other than Mohamed Salah who gave his side the lead. The Egyptian had already seen one of his shots blocked before he scored the opening goal of the evening a couple of minutes before half-time.
Sadio Mane doubled the lead just 10 minutes into the second half as Klopp's men comfortably beat Newcastle to move up to the second spot on the league table.
Here are the player ratings from the game.
Newcastle
Martin Dubravka - 6/10
The Slovakian should have done better regarding Salah's goal.
Florian Lejeune - 6.5/10
The Frenchman had a decent game. He made key blocks and also cleared a couple of balls.
Jamaal Lascelles - 7/10
Lascelles was probably Newcastle's best player at the back of the line. He was the heart of the defence.
Paul Dummett - 7/10
The full-back had a nice game at Anfield. He made some key interceptions to stop Salah.
DeAndre Yedlin - 6/10
He tried to make an impact while going forward but really failed to do so. Defensively speaking, he was okay.
Christian Atsu - 6/10
Not the best game for the former Chelsea player. Apart from a few touches now and then, he failed to make an impact in the game.
Kenedy - 6/10
On loan from Chelsea, Kenedy spent most of his time defending in the match. He needs to step up his game in the future.
Mohamed Diamé - 6/10
He was unlucky not to get on the scoresheet but he did bring a physical presence in the midfield.
Mikel Merino - 5/10
He looked lost for the most part of the game as he saw the match pass by him in the midfield.
Dwight Gayle - 6/10
Gayle was left isolated for most of the evening. Looked like a mere spectator before being subbed off.
Jacob Murphy - 5/10
It was not the best night for Murphy. He looked nervous and couldn't get on the ball.
Substitutes
Joselu - 5/10
Coming on for Gayle in the 66th minute, Joselu couldn't offer what the manager would have expected him from.
Isaac Hayden - 5/10
Coming on in the 73rd minute, Hayden was sent to shore things up but he didn't really impact proceedings.
Ayoze Perez - N/A
He came on for the final six minutes and didn't have much time to make an impact on the game.
Liverpool
Loris Karius - 8/10
Having spent much of the game as a spectator, the German did make an incredible save to deny Diame in the first half. Another solid performance from him tonight.
Trent Alexander-Arnold - 7/10
The right-back continued his impressive run of form this evening. He provided width and created chances while going forward.
Dejan Lovren - 7/10
The Croatian looked at ease after being chosen over Matip. A decent game for the centre-back.
Virgil van Dijk - 8/10
He was at the heart of Liverpool's defence. A very calm and a composed game from the former Southampton player.
Andrew Robertson - 7/10
It was another great game from the Scotland international. Though Yedlin did get the better of him at times, Robertson did well to close down his space and was even a threat while going forward.
Jordan Henderson - 7/10
Having returned back to the team after the Champions League game against Porto, the skipper had an emphatic return. He was pivotal in breaking up the play of Newcastle.
Emre Can - 7/10
The German proved to be an important player to link up the defence with the attack. A very big positive would be that he can feature against Manchester United as he did not pick up a yellow card.
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain - 7/10
The former Arsenal player was a constant threat in the game. He found spaces in the opposition's half and punished them by providing an assist for Salah 32nd goal this season.
Mohamed Salah - 8/10
Yet again, a wonderful performance from the Egyptian. The visitors made it tough for the front three to score but it wasn't long before Salah put the ball in the back of the opposition's net.
Robert Firmino - 7.5/10
The Brazilian took some time to settle down and find his rhythm. He was influential in finding Mane from the tiniest of space available.
Sadio Mane - 7/10
Mane tried his best but was not getting enough space by the visitors. However, his persistence to find spaces earned him his 14th goal of the season.
Substitutes

The Englishman came on in the 74th minute and was able to adjust to the pace of the game but couldn't make an impact.

Coming on in the final 10 minutes, Milner couldn't do much to influence the game.
Joel Matip - N/A
He came on for the final two minutes of the game.
