When asked about a new contract, Santi Cazorla said: “I don't have any news from the club. My focus now is on playing and to be able to enjoy playing football following a season when I had lots of problems [with injuries].”

Ask any Arsenal fan and they would jump at the club’s throat if they did not offer the diminutive Spaniard a new contract. Cazorla will turn 32 this season but that has not stopped him from controlling Arsenal’s midfield, paired with either the energetic Francis Coquelin or the steely Granit Xhaka.

A threat from set-pieces and also the club’s designated penalty taker, Cazorla has returned to the side and already scored twice. With the best passing accuracy in the Premier League at the moment, there is nothing stopping the Gunners from extending his contract.
