Arsenal demolished Chelsea 3-0 at the weekend, as the Gunners gave a fitting reply to their critics and also presented Arsene Wenger with a brilliant gift on his 20 year anniversary with the club.
Arsenal completely outplayed the Blues with goals coming from Alexis Sanchez, Theo Walcott and Mesut Ozil as Chelsea suffered a first defeat against their bitter rivals after five long years.
Great team only on paper, says Conte
Chelsea manager Antonio Conte spared no words in his post-match conference as he admitted that his side looks good on the team sheet but not on the pitch.
The Chelsea manager was understandably disappointed with his team’s performance as he expressed his anger in the post match conference.
Conte angrily said, "What happened? I think from the first minute we didn't have the right attitude. I think we played a bad game against a tough team, very organised, very prepared in the tactical physical aspect. I think that after today we are thinking that we must work a lot, because now we are a great team only on paper."
The victory was the Gunners' first win over Chelsea since 2011.
Conte continued the assessment of his team, "I don't want to talk about the mistakes because it's not right for the player. We win as a team, we lose as a team. We know we must work a lot and if someone thinks this team now is ready to fight, I think we must wait and work to improve a lot and to come back a great team not only on paper, but on the pitch."
Conte praises league leaders City
Chelsea could not hit a shot on target till the 82nd minute as Wenger's men completely outplayed their bitter rivals.
Chelsea sit eighth on the table after two back-to-back losses. Arsenal are joint third on 13 points along with Liverpool and Everton. Manchester City lead the pack and Conte praised the league leaders, "Manchester City started the season very well. They play well but also everyone must look in our house for the problem. Now it's important to look in our house and not in other houses. "
Chelsea have lost their last two league games and have not been able to build on their brilliant start under the new manager. The absence of John Terry has proven to be detrimental for the Blues as the back four have made errors on a regular basis.
