Midfielders
Screening the three-man defence of the Injured XI is Leicester City’s Nampalys Mendy. The French midfielder who was signed to fill the boots of the sensational N’Golo Kante had a disastrous start as he injured his ankle in his debut against Arsenal and has been ruled out of the weekend fixture.
In the centre of midfield are Crystal Palace’s Yohan Cabaye and Liverpool’s Emre Can. Yohan Cabaye will not feature in Crystal Palace’s fixture against Middlesbrough this weekend following the injury he picked up in the last league fixture against Bournemouth.
On the other hand, Emre Can has been struggling with an ankle injury since pre-season. Although back in training and on the brink of a return, Jurgen Klopp has ruled out the German midfielder for this weekend’s fixture against Leicester City.
Playing in the hole ahead of the central midfielders is Aaron Ramsey. The Welshman and Alex Iwobi suffered injuries during the opening day league fixture against Liverpool.
While the latter has recovered from the hip injury and is back in training, the Wales midfielder is ruled out of the clash against the Saints as well as the Champions League opening day fixture against Paris Saint-Germain.
