The midfielder has failed to impress since his world record transfer to Old Trafford and Pogba has called for United fans to give him time to adapt to the Premier League. Looking ahead of the clash at Anfield on Monday, the former Juventus player stated to French TV station TF1, "I need more time to adapt to Manchester, time for the machine to start working. I am adapting.”

He looked confidently as he further added “People like to talk about Paul Pogba. The critics, they stay for a day, then after that I put my music back on, I dance.”

Henderson chosen ahead of Pogba by Paul Merson

Sky Sports pundit Paul Merson chose Liverpool's Jordan Henderson over Pogba in his team solely based on their season's performance. Henderson had a brilliant run last month as he secured the Goal of the Month award for scoring a screamer against Chelsea and also won the Premier League Player of the Month title for the month of September.

Merson, when asked about his preference, said: “Today, Jordan Henderson. Over the next 10 years, I don’t know – it probably should be Pogba considering how much money they spent.” The French national however reacted to the veteran saying he feels "no pressure" regarding his transfer fee and added he hopes to learn a lot from the United boss Jose Mourinho.

Out of his eight appearances for Manchester United, he managed to score only once in their 4-1 victory against Leicester City at home. The Frenchman did do well for the national team as he struck for France in a 1-0 win against Netherlands in World Cup qualifying during the international break.

A win against Jurgen Klopp's side will see United rise to the top four and level on points with their northwest rivals. Liverpool will become joint table leaders with Manchester City and Arsenal with a win.
