Chelsea
Thibaut Courtois – 5
Didn’t have a lot to do but comfortably dealt with any trouble, made a decent stop to deny Slimani before Chelsea’s opener. However, a silly tackle on Vardy almost cost his team the win, luckily it remained 2-1.
Victor Moses – 7
Victor Moses is still a very good outlet for Chelsea as he put in a very good attacking performance, one that gave Christian Fuchs nightmares. He was a very important player for Chelsea in this crucial away victory.
Antonio Rudiger – 7
Rudiger was very good and defended well. Unfortunately, he was denied a clean sheet as Vardy scored from the spot, but it was a goal he could do nothing about.
David Luiz – 7
Luiz commanded the defence and played very well throughout the 90 minutes. He kept his composure and put in a very solid performance.
Cesar Azpilicueta – 7
A Pinpoint cross for Morata’s opener, very intelligent centre-back.
Marcos Alonso – 6
Did not play particularly outstanding and still looks very clumsy in defence, but it was still an okay performance.
N’Golo Kante – 8
Scored against his former club with a long-distance strike. His goal was arguably lucky after a poor save from Schmeichel, however, nothing must be taken away from the Frenchman. With their backs against the wall, he defended well and cut out a lot of Leicester attacks.
Cesc Fabregas – 6
Fabregas struggled to have much of an involvement throughout the game and was eventually taken off for Eden Hazard as the team lacked pace and creativity in the final third.
Tiemoue Bakayoko – 6
Worked reasonably well alongside Kante in midfield and the Frenchman can clearly do it all, defensive wise and going forward. However, he still needs a bit of time to settle in for Chelsea.
Pedro – 5
Not as influential as usual. Seems to be taking time to fully recover from his injury during pre-season.
Alvaro Morata – 9
Very good opportunity inside 10 minutes could have given Chelsea the lead and made up for that scoring just before half time with another header for the Blues. Looked a constant threat in another strong performance from the Spaniard.
Substitutions
Willian – 6
Could have scored at least once off the bench as he threatened from the left on so many occasions on the counter attack. Some poor finishing denied Chelsea an easier end to the game.
Davide Zappacosta – N/A
The new Chelsea signing did okay from the bench but did not have long at full back to make an impression.
Eden Hazard – N/A
The Belgian got his first game of the season from the bench but did not get enough minutes to impress.
