Although Elliott Bennett will still be missing with a leg injury, Chris Hughton will be buoyed by the potential return of Johan Elmander and Ricky van Wolfswinkel. Wolfswinkel needs to step-up he has scored once this term.
Cardiff do not have any new injury concerns going to into this fixture. Andreas Cornelius misses out again though, he has only played in one Premier League game this term.
Recent Form:
Norwich, will see this as a very winnable game and a game that if they lose or even draw, questions will start to be asked of Chris Hughton, as it will allow Norwich to drop deep into the bottom three.
On the other hand, Cardiff will know that Norwich aren’t the worst team at home and will see this game as a game they can’t lose – not necessarily a game they can win, but a game they can’t afford to lose, as, just like their opposition, it will land Cardiff in deep trouble – well among the bottom three.
Although Norwich’s star man, or apparent ‘star man’, hasn’t hit anywhere near the form we all know he’s capable, this could be the game the Dutch attacker finally flourishes into the striker we’ve all been waiting to see.
There’s not much to shout about in terms of the former-Sporting Lisbon’s statistics so far this season, one stat that is worthy of a mention is that he’s assisted a goal and created two other chances in the seven games he’s featured in so far this campaign. That’s not too bad considering his team have only scored six all season.
Whittingham has been very impressive for The Bluebirds so far this season, his good performances are shown best in the nine chances he’s created, this including one assist. On top of his creating qualities, the Englishman has also scored once. Whittingham has also been successful four of the five take-on’s he has made this season. These stats show precisely why Cardiff will heavily rely on Whittingham to pick the lock of The Canaries defence, maybe even be the match-winner on Saturday.
Prediction:
This will be a very tight, tactical encounter with maybe one goal separating the two sides. Neither team will want to squander the three points and come away from this game deep in trouble at the bottom.
