The EPL returned this week after a hiatus due to international break..Their were goals galore with 24 scored this weekend..Chelsea‘s 100% record came to an end this weekend after a stalemate at QPR in a match which was overshadowed by handshake controversy while defending champions City had to settle for a draw against resilient Stoke city..Man United and Arsenal cruised to big victories..Here’s the team of the week-Jussi Jääskeläinen(GK)-The veteran West ham goalkeeper was in fine form against Norwich city..He made a string of good saves specially in the late stages of the match and ensured West Ham keep their third clean-sheet of the season and earn a point..Alex Buttner(LB)–Picked ahead of Evra,the dutch youngster certainly was not afraid of the big stage and had a fine debut at the Old Trafford..Solid at the back,he was constant threat down the left and scored a superb goal to cap off an impressive display..Jan Vertonghen(CB)-The Belgian defender has adapted well to the physicality of the EPL and looks like a good buy given Tottenham’s defensive frailities..He was rock solid against Reading and ensured that Tottenham notched up the first win of the season.Ryan Shawcross(CB)-The Stoke defender was at his best keeping the dangerous Carlos Tevez and Dzeko at bay for most of the afternoon. He made an incredible goal line clearance in the dying moments of the match to ensure that his side hung on for a draw.Matthew Lowton(RB)-After a slow start to the season under Paul Lambert,Aston villa got their first win against Swansea and the young right back was instrumental in it.He was tidy at the back and scored with a screamer from 20 yards out to open the scoring..Lukas Podolski(RW)-Shifted to the wing for this match,the German international had a great game..He was a constant menace down the right side and helped his team create several chances with his brilliant link up play..He also scored with a spectacular free kick..Paul Scholes(CM)-In his landmark 700th game for united the veteran midfielder showed that he has still got it.He was influential as ever bossing around the midfield and opening the scoring to mark the occasion.He will be sorely missed when he retires..Santi Cazorla(CM)-He has taken no time to adjust to the Premier league and the Spanish midfielder showed his quality again against hapless Southampton.He cut open the Saint’s defence constantly with his creativity and intelligent passing.Raheem Sterling(LW)-The 17 year old is having a dream season having been promoted to starting role for Liverpool and earning England call up..He justified his manager’s faith with an energetic display and set up the equalizing goal against Sunderland.Dimitar Berbatov(FW)-Making his full debut Berbatov was the star of the show for his new side,Fulham.He scored two goals with well taken finishes but the highlight was his willingness to track back and help his team mate in a tireless display..Jermaine Defoe(FW)-The England striker is approaching near his best form after a difficult few last month at Spurs.Picked ahead of Adebayor,Defoe led the line well for Spurs scoring two goals with trademark finish inside the box to help ease up some pressure on AVB.
