The best stories of the day often contain the names of Manchester United, Real Madrid, Barcelona or Liverpool. And while today the Red Devils find a place here, the main headline goes to Tottenham Hotspur.

According to reports from Spain, Real Madrid see Christian Eriksen as a more financially viable option as he has just another year left in his contract. Florentino Perez's idea is to include Luka Modric in a deal to bring the Dane to the Bernabeu but Daniel Levy won’t be keen to reduce the cash amount and also, it is unknown whether the Croat would be keen to go back to Spurs.

Meanwhile, Manchester United have opened negotiations to sign Benfica defender Ruben Dias, who has also attracted the interest of Juventus. The Old Lady are also reportedly leading the race to sign him.

The defender has a €60 million release clause and Benfica want the amount paid in full for their prized asset.
