This has been a slow transfer season thus far, as sides have looked to retain players rather than go all out buying. Even Manchester City, who made outrageous bids last summer for the likes of Fabregas, Torres and many more have been relatively sensible this season with value signings like that of David Silva.

However, speculation is a birthright for any football fan. Perhaps outrageous at times but engaging nonetheless in what has been a pretty boring trnsfer season so far with no big guns. So here are 3 transfers that could have been (in your dreams! ).
Thierry Henry earned his name at the London Club. He became an Arsenal legend when he won the league with the invincibles. Henry tasted silverware and fame at Arsenal. Henry paid a perfect tribute to Highbury when he scored the last Arsenal goal. But Henry wanted more.

They say, you better be a small fish in a big pond than be a big fish in a small pond. Henry believed just that and made his dream move to Barcelona. Henry failed miserably as a player at Barcelona. Though he tasted Silverware and European glory, Henry was never the same player.

Now that Henry has been offloaded by Barcelona, Arsenal fans (those who feel he still has it, or those who feel he should be honoured) have dreamt of the Frenchman’s return to Emirates. Arsenal hopes were broken when Henry joined New York Red Bulls. After all dreams are meant to be shattered at times!
Steven Gerrard has been linked to various clubs in his illustrious career at Anfield. The Liverpool talisman was linked with Chelsea when Jose Mourinho was at the helm, however Gerrard decided to stay. With a draught of Silverware at Liverpool, Gerrard is now once again in the limelight. THe very man who wooed him to Chelsea has moved on and has now expressed his admiration for Steven Gerrard.

Gerrard is late in his years nnow and this might be his very last chance to move to a club which is not a part of MLS. In short, effectively Gerrard is somewhere else now or he is at Liverpool forever. Liverpool fans will certainly not mind the latter case.

This transfer is more or less impossible in spite of Mourinho’s great admiration for the Premier EPL star. This is because Real Madrid do not have great money to spend on Gerrard who is considerably advanced in his years now and won’t be of much long term service to the club. At the same time, Liverpool are unlikely to entertain slight bids for their most coveted player.

Another dream transfer that is unlikely to happen.

1: Fernando Torres, Fabregas, David Villa, Kaka and everybody else to Manchester City

Manchester City are the club with the bucks. Last year Manchester City wooed Kaka, Fabregas and many other players to the club in order to secure a champions league spot. They were partially successful in terms of how close they came to achieving that. However, they paid outrageous sums to Amanuel Adebayor and Carlos Tevez. The mannerless Robinho was also a bad buy for the Manchester United rivals.

With Mancini at the helm now, the decisions have been mich more sober. However, speculation is still king at Manchester City. Almost every successful player at the world club has been linked with the club. Kaka is still a target for the Manchester club

It is unlikely that they will have any more big names on their plate this season. With David Villa already with Barcelona, Torres likely to stay at Anfield (or go the Chelsea way), Kaka to stay where he is – Manchester City are a club full of unreallised dreams.
