This isn´t the first contact between the Spanish Football Club and the player, in fact they had an agreement for this season and it looked like a done deal until something went wrong during the last day of the transfer window ( 31st of August). I suppose it had to do with money as it is with most cases.
The Ajax player does not in the plans of the current Coach Frank De Boer and is training separately from the first team. Espanyol have a hole in the forward line since Osvaldo moved to AC Roma and it needs to be filled urgently.
