The French have been booked as the favourites for the Euro 2016 title and rightly so, with a team consisting of the perfect blend of youth and experience. The downside of the 'favourites' and 'hosts' tag is the added pressure to perform and deliver from their first game itself. The Romanians will, however, be no pushovers, and though being an ageing squad have the necessary quality in the to cause the French Squad problems.
Hugo Lloris will be leading the squad and be starting in goal for the Les Blues. It will be interesting to see who starts in defence for France, Adil Rami has replaced the injured Varane in the squad and he started the last friendly against Scotland. The midfield and attack look full of quality and pace.
Paul Pogba and Blaise Matuidi are sure to start in midfield, and Kante seems to be winning the battle for the third spot over the likes of Schniderlin and Cabaye. Olivier Giroud and Antoine Griezmann looks like they will be starting as the two of the three in the attack. For the third place, you can play rock-paper-scissors for one among Coman, Martial and Payet.
Vlad Chiriches had a forgetful stint at Spurs and hasn't exactly set the world alight at Napoli, but what he has been is impeccable in his International career. He will face a tough test against the likes of Olivier Giroud and Antoine Griezmann.
The veteran Razvan Rat should be starting as left back despite playing only 15 minutes of football for his club in this calendar year. In attack, Cordoba striker, Florin Andone will be entrusted to do the bulk of the scoring, as he will most likely be the lone man upfront. He has been in form this season, scoring 2- goals for his club and will be looking to expose probably the only weakness in the French squad, its defence.
Prediction: Who might win the game between France and Romania
It will definitely be a game of Romania’s tactical discipline against the free flowing creative attack of the French. My prediction for the game is France winning by a 2-1 scoreline.
