Most saves in the Group Stage
Iceland’s progress to the knockout stages in their first ever major tournament is nothing short of a fairy tale. And one of the key members who ensured progress to the round of 16 was goalkeeper Hannes Thor Halldorsson.
The 32-year-old goalkeeper made a total of 17 saves over the three games – including eight saves in the 1-1 draw with Portugal which saw him deny Ronaldo time and again much to the frustration of the Real Madrid forward who, at the time, was still looking to score his first goal in the tournament.
