Xabi Alonso's first major international tournament with Spain was Euro 2004. The 23-year-old midfielder played only one game in the competition and could only watch from the sidelines as La Furia Roja were eliminated from the group stage. In 2008 and 2012, however, the former Liverpool man brought his full array of talents to the fore and became a fixture in Spain's midfield.
