Ukraine missed out on qualification to this year’s World Cup, meaning they have only appeared at one World Cup, that coming in 2006, where they reached the quarter finals. They have though appeared in each of the last two tournaments, but were probably the worst side at the 2016 Euros, having lost all three of their games without scoring a single goal.
They have made a good start to their Nations League campaign, and this got underway with a 2-1 comeback win over the Czech Republic. Yevhen Konoplyanka levelled just before the break, and later Oleksandr Zinchenko netted an injury time winner. They followed this up with a win over Slovakia, again scoring a late equaliser in a 1-0 win. Andriy Yarmolenko scored the winner from the penalty spot in the 80thminute.
