Girona FC v Real Madrid CF - La Liga
Girona FC v Real Madrid CF - La Liga

Champions League winners have taken a toll after selling Cristiano Ronaldo. They tasted defeat against their city rivals Atletico Madrid in the UEFA Super Cup.

The European champions did not have any such trouble in La Liga with comfortable wins against Getafe and Girona.

In the absence of Ronaldo Benzema and Bale stole the limelight. The young player Asensio should step up and it will be the season to watch out for the Spanish youngster.

#4 Atletico Madrid

Valencia CF v Club Atletico de Madrid - La Liga
Valencia CF v Club Atletico de Madrid - La Liga

They began their season in stunning fashion with a sensational win against Real Madrid claiming the UEFA Super Cup. With that victory, Atletico Madrid sent a clear statement of intent to the European Giants and they are serious contenders for the Champions League this season.

Their league season didn't go well as they dropped a couple of points in their opening fixture against Valencia and sailed through a 1-0 win over Rayo Vallecano in a typical Diego Simeone style.

Simeone knows how to play in big games, and he is a master in grinding out the results at tough times; his style of play will not bring many goals but slim margins are enough for his team as he has also proved that in the past, so with the more added firepower they probably look like they can have a better season than not.
