Cruzeiro midfielder Everton Ribeiro has welcomed speculation linking him with a move to Manchester United, telling Globoesporte that he would prefer a move to Old Trafford over one to Spanish giants Real Madrid. Ribeiro has previously spoken of his admiration for United, whilst manager David Moyes is rumoured to be considering a £12m move for the midfielder.
“Yes, I would prefer [United over Real.] The structure they (United) have in place is one of the best in the world. I have been there already and went to a lecture by Alex Ferguson when I was younger.”
This is not the first time that the 24-year-old Brazilian has made public his admiration for the Old Trafford club. Earlier this month Ribeiro told ESPN Brazil that he plays video games as Manchester United, and has plotted where he would fit into Moyes’s team.
“United have Kagawa, Rooney, De Gea is the goalkeeper. I know them very well because I play with them a lot in video games as they are a great team. You play it one day after the other and know the players even better,” he said.
“I feel I am ready to play in any part of the world. If you play for Cruzeiro, you can play in any place. I would fit in any part of the midfield. I would do well as a playmaker to support the attack.”
“It would be great [to play alongside Rooney and Van Persie.]”
“I let my agent and Cruzeiro talk about that. When they feel it’s good for both parties, they will let me know. I’ll see and we’ll analyse everything.”
