Everton sign Landon Donovan

Everton have completed the signing of Los Angeles Galaxy star Landon Donovan on a short term deal. Donovan, who has previously lined up for the Merseyside team in 2010, will join the Toffees for a short two month stint with the MLS season only kick starting in March next year.

The 29 year-old forward is likely to be available for David Moyes from January 4th onwards and if details are confirmed, his last appearance could be in the Merseyside derby against Liverpool on the 25th of February.

Everton manager David Moyes said: “I am delighted that we have managed to get Landon back. He will give us some good experience over January and February. He did well for us when he was over two years ago and hopefully will return with those same qualities.

“His season has just finished and like last time we need him to hit the ground running because the games come thick and fast at this time of year.”

Everton have scored a mere 15 goals this season and Moyes was keen on bolstering his forward line. Now, the capture of Donovan seems like a coup and even the USA forward is keen on helping Everton revive their season.

“I thoroughly enjoyed my time at Everton in 2010 and I’m hopeful that we can experience similar success this time around. I want to thank David Moyes and Bruce Arena, as well as executives from both clubs and Major League Soccer for allowing me this unique and special opportunity.”
