Everton Transfer News
Everton is an English professional football club based based in Liverpool. The Toffees have been part of the Premier League for quite some time now and is the second-longest continuous serving club in English top flight football.
Their rivalry with their neighbors Liverpool is one of the most talked about derbies in the English Premier League. Known as the Merseyside derby, the Toffees has recently been considered as an underdog in the tie even though the club has a rich history of winning the English league nine times.
Everton is currently managed by Chelsea legend Frank Lampard after former Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez was sacked by the board for putting the club in a relegation zone. The Toffees are currently struggling to avoid relegation and the board has placed their full trust in Lampard.
Everton Transfer News
When you think of Merseyside, Everton are usually the second team that comes to the mind. But of late, the Toffees are making a lot of noise in the transfer market. In the summer of 2017, Iranian businessman Farhad Moshiri acquired a 49.9% stake at the club and that meant only one thing, they were going to spend big. And that is exactly what transpired.
After Moshiri's investment, the club had big ambitions and unsurprisingly, they made some big name signings. The club signed as many as nine players in the summer of 2018 and it was by far their biggest transfer window in the history of the club. However, over the course of 5 years, Everton has done a bad job in the transfer window as they have spent money on wrong profiles. The Toffees have gone through five different managers and signed more than 30 players. very few of those players have gone to be a success at Goodison Park.
The club weren't known as big spenders. Of course, they spent decent money for a couple of years before Moshiri's arrival but that was mainly down to the new TV revenue deal that kicked in and allowed the Premier League sides to spend lavishly on players.
Everton predominantly depended on academy players and they have been known to have one of the best academies in the country. The likes of Wayne Rooney, Jack Rodwell, Ross Barkley and more recently Tom Davies are some of the prominent names in recent years.
