Crystal Palace
Wayne Hennessey – 6/10
Hennessey was good for most of the game and made some crucial saves for Crystal Palace when called upon. He seemed calm and collected everything but couldn’t do much about the goals.
Papa Souare – 6/10
Souare was at hand several times to mop up a Manchester United attack but had his issues dealing with Mata and later Lingaard. He showed a tremendous drive to keep doing his job all game.
Scott Dann – 5/10
Scott Dann has had better days in that Crystal Palace shirt. He had one of those games where his fellow center back had to hold fort instead. He had a lot of trouble dealing with Rashford and Martial link-up. He was eventually substituted off for injury and ended up with his leg in plaster.
Damien Delaney– 6/10
Delaney stepped in to save his fellow center back on a lot of occasions. His heroics were riddled with a few lapses on his own end but nothing of consequence.
Joel Ward – 6/10
Joel Ward had his work cut out for him defensively by Antony Martial but produced a fine assist for Jason Puncheon to liven up the game. He nearly sent Zaha through late in extra time as well.
Yohan Cabaye – 6/10
Yohan Cabaye had a decent game as he kept the play ticking for Palace but had to be substituted off to make way for a pacy and lively Puncheon
James McArthur – 6/10
James McArthur had the sort of game where he had trouble dealing with the United midfield around him but managed to keep his head in place and stick to the job asked of him. He got booked for trying to stop a quick United counter attack.
Mile Jedinak– 6/10
Mile Jedinak did what he does best all game but his discipline and endeavor could not get his team across the line.
Yannick Bolasie – 7/10
Yannick Bolasie did all that he could on the night. His drive and endeavor got Crystal Palace going when the ball went up to him. However, he was not allowed to step inside with the ball and was limited to crosses from out wide on most occasions.
It was Smalling’s attempt to keep him from running away with the ball on the counter that got the United centerback sent off.
Connor Wickham – 6/10
Connor Wickham had a raging contest on with Chris Smalling when the game began and it was a joy to watch but he hardly managed to do anything else otherwise.
Wilfried Zaha– 6/10
Wilfried Zaha was lively, you’ll give him that but most of the good work he did to get things going was thwarted by a range of poor decisions in the final third that left his efforts wasted.
Substitutes
Jason Puncheon – 7/10
Jason Puncheon was exactly what Crystal Palace needed to kick start the final and before long, the change of personnel proved to be a good idea as he found his way behind the United back line and finished from an acute angle, rocketing the ball behind a helpless David de Gea on the near post.
Dwight Gayle – 5/10
Dwight Gayle came on late in the second half and missed a fabulous opportunity to score Crystal Palace’s second goal right before Manchester United went on to score a winner. He didn’t catch the eye otherwise.
Adrian Mariappa– 5/10
Adrian Mariappa came on for the injured Scott Dann in stoppage time and managed to keep things simple at the back before the winner.
