FA fines Liverpool's Suso for offensive tweet

Liverpool‘s talented midfielder, Jesús Fernández Sáenz (popularly known as Suso) has been fined £10,000 by the FA for posting an offensive message on Twitter.

The 19-year-old footballer used derogatory and homophobic words to describe his team-mate Jose Enrique. Although it was meant in jest, the young footballer was forced to delete the tweet and issue an apology to the FA.

The FA felt the need to warn the young footballer for the wrong-doing:

“Following an Independent Regulatory Commission hearing yesterday [Monday 17 December 2012], Liverpool’s Jesus Fernandez Saez (Suso) has been fined £10,000 and warned as to his future conduct for a comment posted on Twitter,” the FA wrote on their website.

“The charge, which the player admitted and requested a paper hearing, was that he acted in a way which was improper and/or brought the game into disrepute in that the comment was posted on his Twitter account and included a reference to a person/s sexual orientation and/or disability.”
