Italian World Cup winning captain Fabio Cannavaro, who was recently released by the UAE club Al Ahli, has no plans to retire just yet and admitted that he is ready for a new beginning.
Cannavaro rejected a coaching role at Al-Ahli in a bid to prolong his playing career, and said that he does not yet know when he will finally retire from football. Now, the former Juventus and Real Madrid defender has apparently attracted the interest of QPR where owner and compatriot Flavio Briatore wants a big-name signing.
The World Cup winner believes he can continue competing at the highest level, though, and is preparing to return to Europe with Premier League new boys Queens Park Rangers being touted as one possible destinations. He is yet to announce what his intentions are for this summer, but he has made it clear that he will not be slipping out of the spotlight.
“I have not yet decided when I will retire,” he said when pressed on his future.
