Former England manager Fabio Capello has taken a dig against England’s star striker Wayne Rooney stating that he plays well only for Sir Alex Ferguson, his Manchester United Boss.
Although Rooney played only two matches in the entire tournament and scored a goal, his performance was sub par. Despite scoring a goal against Ukraine, he didn’t shine through even in that game. Against Italy, Rooney didn’t make any significant contribution to his side’s performance.
After witnessing all this, Capello has recently stated that “After seeing the latest game, I think Rooney only understands Scottish,”. He also added “That’s because he only plays well in Manchester, where Sir Alex Ferguson speaks Scottish.” in his interview to an English daily.
After Roy Hodgson was appointed as the English manager replacing Capello, Rooney had said that it would be easier to understand because everyone in the team speaks the same language referring to Capello who was an Italian. The press sees this statement by Capello as some sort of a reply to the comment that Rooney made months back.
Capello also said that fatigue was also one of the main reason for England’s exit from the tournament. To the press, he claimed “I said that when I was England manager and it is not possible to change the schedule in England so they will always arrive at tournaments in the same condition. They are physically and mentally tired.”
