According to Carlo Ancelotti, despite interest from clubs like Manchester United, Chelsea and Tottenham, Real Madrid left-back Fabio Coentrao is set to remain in Spain.
“Fabio is staying. I understood that he wanted to go, but really it was not the same desire for everyone. Now he’s decided to stay and everybody, the club, players and coaching staff, are happy with this decision,” said Ancelotti.
Coentrao joined Madrid from Benfica in 2011 for a reported fee of 30million euros (£25.6m).
However, the manager remained evasive regarding the other possible movements of Real Madrid on the deadline day. Madrid is expected to confirm the record deal of Tottenham star Gareth Bale in the next 24 hours, which will mark the end to the club’s summer-long pursuit of the Welshman.
Meanwhile, Brazilian playmaker Kaka is expected to leave the club after generating interest from Arsenal and PSG.
“I don’t really know what is going to happen tomorrow. I cannot say today. Anything could happen, both with regards to players coming in and players going out,” Ancelotti said.
