Gameweek 32 turned out to be a terrible fixture for Arsenal as they bowed down to relegation-threatened Palace 3-0 at Selhurst Park. It seems more and more likely that Arsenal will miss out on top 4 this season as all their main competitors are slowly running away from their grasp.
Manchester United beat Sunderland and it seems certain that the Black Cats will finally get relegated. Tottenham continued their dominance with an inspired performance by Son Heung-min who has firmly solidified his place in the team with his brilliant performances. Chelsea beat Bournemouth and lead the pack with 75 points on the table.
Our last week's team scored a mammoth 84 points with crucial contributions from the defence and the strike force. Let’s take a look at the suggested team for Gameweek 33:
Fixtures
Spurs vs Bournemouth
Crystal Palace vs Leicester
Everton vs Burnley
Stoke vs Hull
Sunderland vs West Ham
Watford vs Swansea
Southampton vs Man City
West Brom vs Liverpool
Man Utd vs Chelsea
Middlesbrough vs Arsenal
Forwards
#11 Romelu Lukaku - Long term
There is no doubt that the Belgian striker has been absolutely destructive this season. He currently leads the goalscorers table with 23 goals, 4 more than the next player on the table. Lukaku’s selection comes on the back of his fantastic home form since he has now scored 10 goals in his last 5 games with at least one goal in each of them.
As Everton host Burnley, we’re compelled to keep the Belgian who has destroyed opponents at home.
#10 Jamie Vardy – Long term
Leicester have come a long way since Ranieri’s sacking and the Foxes have won 4 out of their last Premier League 5 fixtures. English forward Jamie Vardy has been instrumental for them during this period and has been involved in 6 Leicester goals, scoring thrice and assisting as many times.
Leicester travel to Selhurst Park this gameweek as they prepare to face a depleted Palace squad. Although the South London club convincingly defeated Arsenal in their last fixture, Leicester’s renewed resurgence could see us get points from Vardy.
#9 Sergio Aguero – Long term
The 3rd striker of our already high budget frontline is the game’s most expensive player Sergio Aguero, who has shown excellent form for Manchester City. The Argentine has been a huge threat for Manchester City ever since he was brought back into the playing XI due to Gabriel Jesus’ injury.
The forward has scored 5 goals in his last 6 matches and seems a promising bet for good returns.
City have a brilliant run of fixtures coming up and it would make great sense to have offensive players from the team and Aguero has the highest chance of racking up points with his goals.
Midfielders
Son Heung-Min – Long term
After a sensational performance against Watford which included two goals and an assist, we’re sure Son will get us great points at a decent price. Despite Harry Kane’s return, Son’s form is such that he will definitely be accommodated somehow to deliver maximum firepower for Spurs.
Looking at how the team has played going forward, it certainly wouldn’t be a bad option to double on the Spurs front line with the likes of Alli, Eriksen and Kane along with Son.
A game against a not-so-defensively sound Bournemouth team is just the right fixture for Spurs to score goals. The Cherries have conceded 7 goals in their last 5 matches and have crumbled against superior teams.
#7 Wilfried Zaha – Short term
Zaha showed his brilliance in his last game against Arsenal where he single-handedly terrorised the Arsenal backline with his speed and trickery. The Ivory Coast winger will definitely play a crucial role if Palace are to avoid relegation and the manager will be counting on a player of his calibre to deliver the goods.
The former Manchester United player has scored twice and assisted 3 times in his last 5 matches and gets a call to our team due to his good form.
Crystal Palace host Leicester City this gameweek and the Foxes will surely have to keep an eye on not only Zaha but his wing partner Andros Townsend as well, who has shown that on his day, he can be an extremely difficult player to deal with.
#6 Christian Eriksen – Long term
Spurs midfield lynchpin Eriksen has grown by leaps and bounds during his time at the club.
The midfield has been firing and chipping in with goals in the absence of Harry Kane. Eriksen is not just a creator but has shown his impeccable goalscoring qualities this season as well.
The fact that he often takes set pieces makes him another solid option from midfield. Spurs’ firepower has compelled us to go for two players from the Spurs midfield.
#5 Roberto Firmino – Long term
Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp had sent out quite a different team last gameweek against Stoke and it was soon evident that they just couldn’t cope with the pressure that Stoke was putting on them.
The manager introduced Firmino to the game as a substitute and Liverpool’s attack slowly started ticking in, which clearly showed the Brazilian’s importance to their attack. The player has been involved in 4 goals for the Reds in their last 5 fixtures.
With a sweet run coming for Liverpool, it is imperative to get hold of someone from the Liverpool midfield who has the ability to not just score but create as well. Firmino fits our bill perfectly.
Defenders
#4 Mason Holgate – Differential
Everton youngster Holgate has been a regular ever since Coleman’s gruesome injury and the young lad hasn’t disappointed. Despite poor returns in the last 3 fixtures, Holgate has performed well at an individual level.
At a price point of £4m, Holgate is a wonderful budget defender who can help you accommodate premium priced players in the forward and midfield category.
Everton host Burnley who have been awful while going forward. The club has scored just 2 goals in their last 5 fixtures and will surely have a tough time against Everton’s backline.
#3 James Collins – Differential
Multiple injuries have plagued the West Ham team which has directly affected their results as the Hammers have won just once in their last 5 games. However, despite all this, a game against Sunderland is just the right time for the London club to get two consecutive results in their way.
Sunderland have not scored a single goal in the last 5 matches and have been woeful while going forward. Collins gets our vote because he’s the most inexpensive way to get into the Hammers defence.
#2 Jan Vertonghen – Long term
Tottenham’s all weather pick continues to be centre back Jan Vertonghen who has been an integral part of Spurs strong defensive unit. The Belgian has been in good form after returning from his injury and is a stellar pick from Tottenham’s defence.
The Lily Whites have kept 3 cleansheets in their last 6 matches and with a sweet run coming up for them, having defensive coverage from Spurs seems like a wise choice for the long run.
Goalkeeper
#1 Lee Grant – Short term
Stoke goalkeeper Lee Grant has been one of the game’s best budget goalkeepers with some great returns over the season. The player who had joined Stoke initially on loan, made his move permanent in January after Stoke management found him to be the ideal candidate for the goalkeeper position.
Jack Butland is back, but we believe that the Englishman will slowly be brought into the first team and Lee Grant is surely your man for this fixture.
Stoke have conceded in 4 of their last 5 fixtures but that should not deter you from getting Grant since their next game is against Hull City who have shown excellent form at home but have faltered in their away fixtures.
The Tigers have scored a measly 2 goals in their last 5 away games, a record that highlights that Marcos Silva still needs to do a lot at the club.
