In the wake of a sponsorship agreement with Paddy Power, the Farnborough players and their coaching personnel have legitimately changed their names to that of a legendary football players in their corresponding positions.
Striker Daniel Bennett has changed his identity to Argentine international Lionel Messi, goalkeeper Kevin Scriven will from now on be called as Gordon Banks, while club manager Spencer Day will be Jose Mourinho.
The club manager was quoted by the Daily Mail as saying: “Over the summer it looked touch and go, whether we’d even start the season, but now we’ve got by far the greatest team the world has ever seen.
“Although it’s not all good news, Pele and Maradona have almost come to blows over who gets to wear the Number 10.”
A Farnborough press release said: “The end result is that, on paper, the Skrill South team will be without doubt the best combination of playing talent that has ever been assembled.
“It’s not just the Farnborough FC faithful, all Skrill South fans now need only to travel to Paddy Power Park, and not Nou Camp, to see some of the world’s best players.”
