FC Cincinnati kick off their Leagues Cup campaign against Mexican outfit Queretaro on Thursday (August 1) at the TQL Stadium.
The MLS side failed to arrest their slump in form in MLS, as they fell to a 3-1 defeat to New York Red Bulls at the Red Bull Arena. Pat Noonan’s side have lost three games on the spin, conceding seven goals and scoring twice since a 6-1 victory over 10-man Inter Miami on July 7.
Cincinnati turn their attention to the Leagues Cup, where they will look to improve on their performances from last season, where they suffered a Round-of-16 exit against eventual runners-up Nashville.
Queretaro, meanwhile, lost on penalties to New York Red Bulls in their Leagues Cup opener after a goalless draw with the MLS side in regulation time. That was in keeping with their struggles in the new Mexican Liga MX campaign, where they have lost their opening four games.
Queretaro’s poor start to the season has been owing to their lack of sting in attack, scoring just three goals in five games across competitions.
