Subhashish Bose scored a penalty in the 46th minute to guide Sporting club de Goa to a comfortable 1-0 win and overall 2-0 aggregate victory over Mumbai FC and seal a place in the Federation Cup semi-finals at the Tilak Maidan Stadium here on Wednesday.
Sporting will now face Aizawl FC in the semi-finals.
The first half saw a see-saw battle between the two sides, but it was the hosts who dominated the first half.
Mumbai got a couple of chances in the first half to go ahead and level things on aggregate but some quality defence by Sporting denied Mumbai a goal.
But just a minute after the re-start, Mumbai's Ashutosh Mehta was booked for simulation in the box. Subhashish scored from the spot sending Mumbai goalkeeper Kunal Sawant the other way. There was no looking back for Sporting from there.
Mumbai got a number of free-kicks from there in the second half but failed to score.
In the 77th minute, Mumbai got a golden chance to score their first, when Steven Dias sent the perfect ball into the Sporting box but Sushil Singh's header brushed the far post.
