Manchester United sent scouts over to Spain to watch Atletico Madrid’s Filipe Luis, according to Mark Ogden of The Telegraph.

The reporter tweeted last night that United had scouts in Spain to take a casting eye over the highly-rated left-back during Atletico’s 4-2 win over Rayo Vallecano.

It is has been well-known this season that David Moyes is looking at replacing the outgoing and aging Patrice Evra at left-back. He failed with a bid in the summer for Leighton Baines, of Everton, and has been linked with Luke Shaw, of Southampton, all season.

It now seems that he’s making advances on Filipe Luis.

Filipe Luis has been a star performer for Atletico this season, creating 21 chances and completing 81% of his passes. His performances over the last year or so have attracted significant interest from clubs around Europe who now see him as one of the best full-backs in the game.
